Steam Machine photo
[edit]@0x0a How is it a copyright violation? First of all I cited where I took the screenshot (Digital Foundry site), and It's not even copyright material because these are public images and are not under any copyright law. Please stop reporting my image as speedy deletion and be collaborative, thanks. DavideMay (talk) 10:12, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
Deletion of photos
[edit]@0x0a I've noticed that you deleted many of the photos I've uploaded on Wikimedia, most of them were screenshots that did NOT fall under Copyright and were free images, either made by me or that could be freely used. I don't know if you're an administrator or just a dickhead among the many on Wikipedia, but I'd really like to know why did you delete those photos which, I repeat because perhaps you don't understand the concept, could have been used freely and had not a single spark of copyright violation in them? - @DavideMay Firstly, works are copyrighted by default in most countries due to their agreement with the Berne Convention; a copyright notice or a © sign is not needed. Secondly, an image has been posted to a publicly-available website does not give you implied permission to re-use it nor to upload it here. Downloading the image to your computer and then cropping it will NOT make it your work also. Thirdly, uploading others work without written permission like in Pinterest and Instagram is prohibited here, because the platform is designed for uploading ONLY freely licensed works. Finally, if these doesn't make sense for you, read our policy COM:L, or ask at COM:HD, or ask Google, the next time you upload a un-free image or remove the problem tag on it, you will be blocked. 0x0a (talk) 10:57, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- @0x0a You might as well do it then, since before now I've never had these kind of problem uploading pictures both on Wikipedia and Wikimedia. Plus, it doesn't have to be my own work to make it free of use, there are literal categories to use for an image that is not my work. All these images were seen by other administrator before you and no one asked for deletion. I've published some images which were under copyright and were fairly deleted, but not a single one flagged by you needed to have a "speedy deletion", nor to be deleted. Have a good day. - @DavideMay There is no such thing as administrator‘s confirmation here. If you have any objections, just clicking "Challenge speedy deletion" on that page or request a recovery at COM:UR if it has been deleted. 0x0a (talk) 12:14, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
