Image colours

Hi Birgit, I wanted to let you know that I tried to remove the effects of the poor light conditions on your nice picture of Tuva Halse, here: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Tuva_Halse#/media/File%3ATuva_Halse_2025-2_enhanced_dynamics.jpg to retrieve the original light of the scene (I was there too). The idea was to remove the near-infrared effects when the light is low, which usually smartphone cameras do not remove well, restoring the true colours. You can see the effect on the de.wikipedia page; please revert it if you don't like obviously! Aside, as I wrote in a comment, the Molde 2025 photograph is one that Tuva Halse is happy to see here, so I restored it. Happy to hear your comments on all this! Yes, I noticed your edit and I am not really agreeing that it enhanced the _dynamics_ of the image – if anything, the facial structures are flatter in the new version. The particular capture was made when she crouched next to the piano with no stage light on her, and I had already lifted the exposure considerably but was content with it since it is in focus and it shows Tuva in a happy moment. I don't think it being a tad dark takes away from that. And my capture is definitely not made with a smartphone camera.

You initially removed my portrait of Tuva playing her violin, under the justification that it was "non-representative". I would argue that it is, in fact, very representative of an artist who is quite expressive, but I still took notice of your opinion and have since uploaded two new, more neutral, images. One is showing her face from the front (the one you've since edited), and one showing her in profile but close-up and without any objects obscuring her face. It puzzles me that these still aren't considered good enough, since they are of better technical quality than the Molde picture and also should count as representative, which was the argument against the photo in which she's playing the violin. I am questioning whether Tuva has been shown the two latest alternatives when you argue that she prefers the cellphone capture from Molde, but I am also questioning – on a principled level – whether a subject of a wiki article should be the one deciding which photo to use.

On a sidenote: I have shared my photos from both concerts (Kongsberg and Canal Street, I was a festival photographer at both events) with Tuva and gotten heartfelt feedback. She's posted several of them on her social media. Birdesigns (talk) 23:54, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

Hi, sorry for seeing your message only today. Would you accept my apologises for not asking you before changing the colour balance of your photograph, that was my mistake. In fact, I generally agree with what you write above, and it was not my purpose to suggest that your photographs are "not good enough". The diversity of Tuva's facial expressions while listening to other musicians during concerts is the most fascinating, you probably agree with that, and this is what is captured on your photos. I do certainly agree, obviously, that the subject of a wiki article is not to decide what is on the page, a golden rule. But she wrote me a message from which I understood that it is not the image of her she would want to project, that she felt uncomfortable. I took the liberty of proposing her a selection of other photos (including taken from the front) and it appeared that she really liked a lot that one from Molde. This should on the principle not be a wiki reason for the exchange; however, at the same time, if I put myself in the shoes of the subject... that's her public image, in a sense, so why not make her happy with that. There is nothing basically controversial behind, it does not affect the informational content of the article.
